John "Flyin" Koester certainly deserves the recognition of his nickname after his performance in the 2017 season. He nearly had a perfect season in the Extreme Class, winning all but 1 race. However, in Freemansburg, he did something just as impressive that no other hillclimber has done -and that is sweeping all four classes in a single round, John's ability to win came at an early age, at just 2 1/2 years old winning his first hare scramble on a PW50. Then, a week after turning 16, John started his Professional Career with a win for his Rookie Debut of the legendary Poag's Hole Hillclimb. He would not only take the win but also the title of the first 450 ever to make it over the top! John comes from a die-hard racing family. His Mother, Father and older sisters have all raced competitively along side him in everything from snowmobiles, GNCC, Motocross, and Flat track on both quads and bikes. A life of racing is not all that John enjoys, he also loves working and refining the Nitro bikes that he rides. And that mentality may just be the secret that has led John to be a 5 time AMA Pro National Champion.
