Jamie Deer Named Announcer for 2012 AMA Pro Hillclimb Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 22, 2011) - AMA Pro Hillclimb is proud to announce that the Series will have Jamie Deer as the announcer for the 2012 season. Deer's storied history in the sport will allow him to bring the story of the season directly to the fans through his in-depth knowledge of past events and his personal connection with the AMA Pro Hillclimb stars. He sees every ride up the hill as the potential to be "The Ride" that could win the event.

"The involvement of a series announcer is something that has been needed for a long time," said Scott Campbell, PHA President. "This will bring a revived excitement to the riders and a new atmosphere which a lot of fans haven't experienced. The excitement Jamie brings to the sport is contagious and we are very happy to have him as a part of the AMA Pro Hillclimb Series."

Jamie Deer is from Indianapolis, Ind. and has been announcing NAHA events for the past five years. He is also currently in the third year of his contract with the Mid American X-Country (MAXC) Racing Series, which plays host to the AMA sanctioned National Cross Country Series. He was introduced to hillclimbing in 2004 after touring with Jeff Thomas, former AMA Pro Hillclimb Champion, and Dave Watson, seven-time AMA Pro Hillclimb Champion, for several years while filming and producing the hillclimb video Vertical Destruction (released in 2008).

"I am already looking forward to the 2012 season with AMA Pro Hillclimb," Deer said. "To me, there is no form of motorsports that is more exciting than AMA Pro Hillclimb and what better place is there to watch than from the announcing booth. I will do everything I can to help bring something to an already awesome sport."
